The probability that COVID-19 causes pulmonary fibrosis is low
Wang Guiqiang, director of the department of infetious diseases in the Peking University First Hospital: COVID-19 is an acute viral infectious disease with a short course of disease, which leads to a low probability of pulmonary fhbrosis development. In most mild cases, pumonary fhbrosis will not occur. COVID-19 causes severe damage to the lung, and fibrous tissue hyperplasia wil occur during the repair of the lung. This is a dynamic process, and the mild cases will be absorbed quickly, while the severe cases wil have some residual flbrosis. (CCTV news)

New research: surveillance for animal-borne diseases should be expanded beyond bats and rodents
Bats and rodents are considered high risk virus hosts, and some scientists even believe that certain features of these animals increase the likelihood of disease spreading from animals to humans and should therefore be monitored more closely. But a new analysis shows that bat and rodent viruses are "not unique" in their propensity to infect humans, Nature reports. The paper was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. (sciencenet.cn)
