Wan Gang meets with former Saxony governor Stanislaw Tillich
I hope that China and Germany will jointly make suggestions for promoting the development of global clean energy.
Wan Gang, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with Stanislaw Tillich, former governor of Saxony state of Germany, in Beijing on October 30, 2019.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on the use of clean energy and the reform of the energy system among other topics.

Tillich thanked CAST for its reception.
After introducing Saxony’s cooperation with China, especially the progress in their clean energy cooperation, he expressed the hope the two sides will strengthen joint research in the field of clean energy and explore the possibility of further cooperation in clean energy replacing conventional energy.
While expressing his high appreciation of the importance Germany attaches to clean energy and the achievements it has made, Wan said that China has also been making great efforts to develop clean energy and adjust its energy structure over the past decade for the environmental protection and social and economic development.
He hoped that CAST and German scientific organizations both in and out of Saxony will explore new areas of cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges in the field of science and technology and jointly propose ideas for promoting clean energy development around the world.
Also joining the meeting were Guo Zhe, director-general of the CAST Department of Research and Publicity, Liu Yang, director-general of the CAST Department of International Affairs, and He Wei, deputy director-general of the CAST Center for Talent and Training.
