Meng Qinghai meets with IVA vice president Magnus Breidne
Scientific and technological exchanges between Chinese and Swiss scientists
Meng Qinghai, vice president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with a Swedish delegation headed by Magnus Breidne, vice president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), in Beijing on September 29, 2019.

Meng extended warm welcome to Breidne for visiting CAST again and congratulated him on receiving the 2019 Friendship Award, an award given annually by the Chinese government to honor outstanding foreign experts.
Breidne thanked Meng for his welcome and congratulations.
The two sides reviewed the achievements that have been made through the High-level Dialogue Between Chinese and Swedish Scientists in recent years, and exchanged views on how to deepen their cooperation mechanism and broaden cooperation and how to implement the China-Sweden Top Scientists Exchange Program in 2020.
Since 2018, CAST has been carrying out the exchange program in cooperation with IVA. Under the program, CAST has sent Chinese academicians and experts to Sweden for academic exchanges for the second year running. The program has enabled the Sweden science community to get a comprehensive idea of China's scientific and technological development as well as its innovation system, and further consolidated the relationship between CAST and its partners in Sweden.
Breidne, who is the former Swedish Embassy science and technology counsellor in China, is a long-term supporter of CAST, and has actively advanced scientific and people-to-people exchanges between China and Sweden. He has been in charge of the China-Sweden Top Scientists Exchange Program on the Swedish side since CAST started the initiative.
Also joining the meeting was Wang Qinglin, deputy director general of the CAST Department of International Affairs and other relevant personnel from both sides.
