Huai attends Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation
Huai took part in the opening ceremony and high-level conference of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on April 26, 2019.
As a mass organization for China's science and technology workers, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) has kept expanding exchanges and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), said Huai Jinpeng, executive vice president of CAST, in Beijing on April 25, 2019.
Huai made the remarks at the Thematic Forum on Silk Road of Innovation of the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
Since 2016, CAST, under its initiatives to build a cooperation platform for science organizations and promote joint efforts for greater non-governmental science and cultural exchanges under BRI, has been dedicating itself to pragmatic cooperation with science organizations in countries along the Belt and Road as well as with the UNESCO to promote academic exchanges, talent training, engineering capacity mutual recognition and international organization establishment, Huai told forum participants.
CAST also initialized such activities as the World Conference on Science Literacy and the International Science Popularization Works Exhibition to expand the space for cooperation, Huai added.
In his speech Huai also introduced CAST's endeavors in promoting science exchanges among young people under BRI, which included the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and the China Adolescents Science and Technology Innovation Contest.
CAST is willing to engage in think-tank exchanges, academic exchanges, science popularization exchanges and science society exchanges through close cooperation under BRI and establish an effective cooperation mechanism and network that will result in more public science products for people along the Belt and Road. CAST would like to do joint plannings with the countries of Belt and Road for the future development and make new contributions to the building of a community of shared future for mankind, said Huai.

The thematic forum, themed "Innovate Together for a Shared Future" was sponsored by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and co-organized by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and CAST.
A relevant department head of CAST gave a report on the association's effort in recent years to promote cultural and scientific exchanges among young people under BRI after the opening ceremony of the thematic forum.
