May you all have good health!

There are more or less some moles on us, and that's not surprising, but have you ever seen such a mole: the center of the mole bulges, surrounded by small blood vessels arranged radially. At first glance, it looks just like a red spider lying on the body, hence the name spider angioma.

This kind of mole is usually found in the neck, face, chest, shoulder and other positions. When you press it by hand, the blood streaks around it can disappear. But when you release, they soon return to the original state.

About 15% of healthy people can have spider angioma, especially 6-10 years old children and pregnant women. If other people have multiple spider angioma, we should consider the possibility of liver disease.

As one of the well-known clinical manifestations of liver cirrhosis, the emergence of spider angioma is related to the decrease of androgen inactivation caused by impaired liver function. When the amount of androgen entering the blood circulation increases, distal branches of arterioles may enlarge and dilate and form spider angioma.

What about liver cirrhosis, which is closely related to spider angioma? Let's take a look.

How Terrible is Liver Cirrhosis?

As we all know, the liver plays a vital role in human body. It can secrete bile to aid digestion, is featured by coagulation, detoxification, phagocytosis and immunity, and also has the functions of hematopoiesis and regulation of blood circulation.

Once liver cirrhosis occurs, these important physiological functions of liver are bound to be impaired.

So what is liver cirrhosis? It is a kind of diffuse liver injury caused by the long-term (or repeated) damage of liver by one or more causes. In China, there are about 7 million patients with liver cirrhosis, of which 70% are viral cirrhosis and 20% are alcoholic cirrhosis. Thus, it can be seen that virus and alcohol are the main killers of liver cirrhosis.

Liver Cirrhosis is Traceable

Apart from spider angioma, liver cirrhosis also has the following symptoms. If there is any abnormality, please go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

Digestive Tract Symptoms

Almost all patients with liver cirrhosis have such a feeling in the early stage: with bulged stomach, feeling like vomiting whenever they see greasy food, no appetite and not feel like eating.

Hence, when anorexia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and diarrhea persist for a long time, we should be wary of the potential problem of the liver.

Moreover, systemic emaciation, fatigue and listlessness are also early symptoms of liver cirrhosis.

Jaundice

Jaundice is another typical manifestation of liver cirrhosis. Due to accumulation of bile in the liver, the skin turns yellow, especially the sclera, sweat and tears, and the whole person looks like Minions.

What's more, the symptoms also include hypourocrinia, yellow and smelly urine. In some patients, their urine even has the color of strong tea (ps: perhaps they won't feel like drinking strong tea in the future), probably accompanied by urinary tract infection.

For healthy people, there is no need to worry when yellow urine has occurred only once or twice (without other uncomfortable symptoms in a short time). But if thick yellow urine has occurred repeatedly for a long time, attention should be paid to whether there is any problem with liver.

Liver Palm

Liver cirrhosis can also spread to the palm of hand, known as the liver palm:

Typical symptoms are pink spots on the palm. When you press them, the color will fade. But when you release them, the color will return to the original state. Most of the spots occur in thenar, hypothenar, the facies palmaris of fingers and the base of fingers, etc. Most patients with liver cirrhosis can suffer from liver palm.

The emergence of liver palm is related to decreased estrogen inactivation in liver. Estrogen accumulates in the body, not only causing liver palm, but also leading to menstrual disorder in women, orchiatrophy, breast development and decreased libido in men, and resulting in the embarrassment that the breast of a male is bigger than that of a female.

Ascites

This can be regarded as the most terrible symptom.

This is not pregnancy! The bulging stomach is full of effusion, which is a typical symptom of liver cirrhosis in the late stage.

Ascites can occur suddenly or gradually. Many patients haven't discovered ascites until their abdominal girth increases. When the abdomen significantly distends, patients may develop complications, such as dyspnea and hepatopulmonary syndrome.

Say “No” to These Behaviors!

Cirrhosis is so terrible, how should we prevent it?

Firstly, we should pay attention to our diet, avoid spicy and greasy food. A low-fat and low-salt diet can greatly lower the burden of liver.

Secondly, don't drink alcohol for a long time. Alcohol is metabolized through the liver. When one drinks heavily for a long time, the liver will be overburdened and unable to metabolize, followed by alcoholic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis.

Needless to say, it is also important not to stay up late and have a good rest. Staying up late for a long time can make excessive toxins metabolized poorly. They may deposit in the liver and damage liver cells.

Therefore, dark circles are really “decocted” with life! As we get older, our liver really can't work any longer!

Liver Cirrhosis is Not Incurable

So how can we treat cirrhosis of liver cirrhosis if it's already there?

There are different therapies for different pathogeneses. Liver cirrhosis induced by hepatitis B should be treated by early antiviral therapy. Alcoholic cirrhosis should be treated by give up drinking as early as possible, strengthening liver protection treatment, protecting liver cell function, and giving nutrition and supportive care.

Patients with liver cirrhosis must have adequate rest at ordinary times, not stay up late, not drink alcohol, and get regular workups to observe the condition of liver cirrhosis.

Having said all that, you must have some idea of liver cirrhosis. As a matter of fact, whatever disease happens, it's the accumulation of dribs and drabs in daily life. Accordingly, we must take good care of our body, form good living habits, and work and rest regularly.

May you all have good health!
