Wan Gang meets with IEA delegation
Wan Gang met with a delegation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) headed by its executive director Fatih Birol in Beijing recently.
Wan Gang, president of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), met with a delegation of the International Energy Agency (IEA) headed by its executive director Fatih Birol in Beijing recently.
The two sides held discussions on promoting renewable energy and clean energy cooperation.
After extending warm welcome to the guests, Wan briefed CAST's organizational structure and what CAST has done in recommendation of Chinese scientists to take relevant responsibilities in international organizations.
Wan thanked IEA for its supports to China's energy development.
Applauding the agency's important role in promoting global renewable energy development, Wan said that as China endeavors vigorously to advance the sectors of renewable energy, new-energy vehicles and artificial intelligence, it needs to broaden its vision and draw on world-class experiences and practices.
Birol thanked CAST for its warm reception and gave the CAST side a basic introduction about IEA.
Both sides agreed they should take the meeting as an opportunity to strengthen communication and increase mutual understanding so as to explore areas of cooperation in renewable energy and clean energy.
Also joining the meeting were Aya Yoshida, head of Asia Pacific and Partnerships at IEA; Yang Lei, senior advisor to the IEA head; Alan Searl, project manager; and officials of the CAST Department of International Affairs, the China Society of Automotive Engineers and the China Renewable Energy Society.
