OnTech holds online roadshow of design creative technologies (Italy)

The purpose of the activity is to build a platform for the integration of science and technology and economy, and gather innovation resources at home and abroad.

On May 25, an online roadshow of design creative technologies (Italy) was held by the China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE) of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) under OnTech, an international technology trade promotion network initiated by the CISTE together with the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) to support the integration of science and technology with economy.

Hosted by Luo Hui, director of the CISTE, the event focused on Italy's design philosophy, design of Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable devices, stereolithography solutions, design and development of high-tech and innovative products, design instruments of immersive VR tourism and digital solutions to smart recovery. It was the 20th activity of a roadshow series of "Innovation China."

Lyu Zhaoping, Executive Secretary of CAST attended the event and delivered a speech.

He said 2020 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Italy, and the two countries share a long history of friendship.

He introduced that the CAST is currently organizing activities to facilitate the integration of sci-tech and economy, trying to build the brand of "Innovation China," establish platforms of science-economy integration, and gather innovative resources from both home and abroad.

Italy is a leading designer of the world, Lyu said, adding that he hopes relevant parties of the two countries can make joint efforts to promote continuous expansion of China-Italy science and technology cooperation and enrich its connotation.

Giulio Bollino, Intellectual Property Supervisor of the Department of Sciences and Technologies for Matter at the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy also spoke at the event. He introduced the work scope of the CNR, hoping to cooperate with Chinese science and technology institutions.

Lipardi Vincenzo, vice president at Campania NewSteel, co-founder of the China-Italy Technology Transfer Center, and president of Italy China Science, Technology and Innovation Alliance on Startups and Entrepreneurship, elaborated on the cooperation between China and Italy in smart devices, green innovation, and digital economy under the alliance. He hopes the two ancient civilizations can achieve win-win results in future science and technology cooperation and bring bilateral cooperation to a higher level.

The activity was held under the support from 20 provincial- and municipal-level science and technology associations, as well as the Secretariat of the World Young Scientist Summit.

The event's partners, including Suzhou High-speed Rail New Town, Suzhou (Italy) Center for International Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Italy China Science, Technology and Innovation Alliance on Startups and Entrepreneurship and SPICI srl, actively participated in the event, and are planning to make further contacts with relevant projects’ owners on the Italian side to facilitate implementation.

The event was the first roadshow of a series activity to be held by the CISTE to mark the National Science and Technology Workers Day that falls on May 30 each year.

In addition to the online roadshow of design creative technologies (Italy), the CISTE had hosted six similar activities since March, including an online roadshow and matchmaking of international innovative technology against COVID-19, an online roadshow and promotion of oversea technological innovation talent team, a special roadshow of the cutting-edge equipment of German Hidden Champions (online matchmaking event), a global high-tech online roadshow series South Korea Medical Health Special Event, and an online roadshow and matchmaking of digital innovation technologies

These activities attracted more than 10,000 people and received a total of 200,000 views on ZOOM and Guangming Daily Online. Over 200 enterprises and industrial parks have established connection with the exhibited projects.
